Lecture 4 Review- Big Screen to Small

INTRO: Digital technology has undoubtedly had impact upon the art and craft of film making - whether that is a good or bad thing only time will tell.
PAST: In the earliest days of cinema silent movies evolved into 'talkies'. Subsequently cinema was undermined by TV, then VHS. Then DVD undermined VHS. Now the Internet undermines them all. Every time the industry viewed new technology as a threat, that very threat ended up increasing sales.

This week we spoke about 'The History of Film'. The cinema was born in 1895 and only got television in Australia in the 1950's. It was interesting that 'Toy Story' came out when i was only 5 years old, and still to today, Toy Story 3 came out and I am now 21 years old. This just shows how digital has improved over the years from the very first Toy Story.

This week we also looked at the impact that the internet is having on film makers. It seems these days that anyone can post a video on YouTube, whether it is dodgy or great, and call themselves 'film makers'. An important fact is that YouTube managed an incredible 100 million views daily in its first year.

Lecture 5 Review- Consumption and Production
Lecture Review 5 - Consumption and production
Week 5 lecture was surrounded by consumption and production. We are consumers of content.
This lecture made me think of how much i consume content in my daily life, aswell as how much it has changed within years.
We consume content through a variety of outlets, or 'screens'. such as : Cinema, Television and computers.

When thinking of these outlets and how they have changed, one having a computer which was shaped like a big box, heavy and old- it has now turned into smaller shaped outlets, holding more knowledge and space.

Here is an example of outlets, and how they have changed:

As well as outlets, there are small screens which are portable media players and mobile phones.

Here is an example of how mobile phones have changed over the years:
